Yogyakarta
The cultural and artistic center of the island of Java Yogyakarta is a great city to explore. You can see rich Javanese legacy everywhere you turn. There are many historical sights to explore in one of Indonesia's oldest towns, which is still governed by the sultan, whose opulent walled palace dominates the town's center. It has amazing street art, charming art galleries, museums, and delicious cuisine. Historic temples are not distant from Yogyakarta, so you should definitely visit Borobudur Temple in Magelang and Prambanan Temple, where the biggest Hindu historical objects are found.

Ubud
Ubud is currently very crowded with tourists but if you travel a bit further out, you will find quieter areas of the city and isolated paddy fields. The city and its surroundings which are rich in history are home to many cultural and historical sites. You can see magnificent temples, wonderful caves, beautiful stone carvings as well as some outstanding museums. In addition to all of that, there are numerous excellent restaurants and shops to check out and weekly performances by over 65 different artists.
Kuta
Kuta in Bali which was once a tiny, isolated fishing village has developed over the years and these days it is crowded with young Australians searching for fun at its inexpensive bars, nightclubs, and fast food restaurants. Also what attracts visitors is Kuta's white beach, it could be the best beach in all of Bali. There are surfing and scuba diving activities to enjoy as well. If you're looking for a quieter place, Legian and Seminyak nearby are the best option.
